Ikebana Sign

Our Ikebana Pots are
all made in our Kent Studio.

Each dish comes with a fixed Pin Holder or Kenzan. Each dish is either thrown on a potters wheel or slab made, and finished with great care and attention. They are fired in Stoneware and Raku, and are watertight. All hold plenty of water to keep arrangements fresh.

Slab Design

We make some dishes
using the Raku technique.

Raku is an old Japanese process dating back to the ancient Tea Ceremony. Using special clays and glazes, dishes are removed from the kiln

at 1000 degrees centigrade. The thermal shock causes the glaze to crackle. The dish is then placed in sawdust (post fire reduction) the resulting smoke carbon makes the crackle go black. When cool each dish is scrubbed clean, and sealed with a special waterproofing agent.
