Ikebana Sign

Ikebana is Japanese for flower arranging. Its simplistic style is as refreshing in a modern home as it is in a traditional Japanese setting.

Ikebana has a long history, its origins are found back in the sixth century AD when Buddhist monks offered floral arrangements to Buddha.

The main Ikebana schools are Ikenobo, Ohara and Sogetsu. Each has precise instruction in the fine art of floral decoration and explains their diverse approaches in how colour, shape and texture of flowers are used to harmonize the laws of nature with humanity.

Ikebana allows the individual to express his own personality in his own home, and gives the freedom to combine flowers and branches to look living in an un-natural environment. The Ikebana pot on a table or ledge expresses the beauty of nature.

We also make special, individual one off Ikebana containers. For details for what is available please email or telephone.
